The public 1stHeadlines pages do not require an account. We store the news sources and headlines that power the site, not a profile of readers.

A small session cookie is used only on the hidden Manage desk after you sign in with the site password. That cookie is HTTP-only and is not used for advertising.

Advertisement slots on headline pages may be filled by Google AdSense when a publisher account is configured. Google may set its own cookies in that case; see Google's advertising privacy policy for those details.
